The Concept

WALAN has run at sizes varying from 200 to 720 patrons, running at either 24, 32 or 36 hours where patrons get to play against each other in small to large, amateur to professional competitions.

LAN in a Can - What is it?

"A local area network (LAN) is a computer network that interconnects computers in a limited area such as a home, school, computer laboratory, or office building." (Cheers Wikipedia!) Basically we create the LAN with things like switches, CAT6, core switches and servers exclusively for gaming purposes - all you do is bring your computer and others bits and join in.

Games

Patrons are free to play any game they own against anyone at the event, or in one of our event tournaments for the chance to win prizes supplied by our sponsors. Games will range from what's new, to classics, to the sillies - for both individuals and teams. Not in a team? Create one on the day.

All night?

Yep. Our events are always run over the weekend so as to not interrupt school or work. Some things just take time.

Our Events

Whats New?

Some of the most experienced members of the team will have some old tricks but what's most important to us is keeping up to date with the community and moving forward. We have some new blood coming in to mix things up with new ideas and new methods to the madness.

Whats Old?

Some of the faces look a bit tired - but over the years they have developed more skills and knowledge which can be placed in different areas for greater efficiency and effectiveness. They'll be working together with the fresh faces to make sure things stay on track in terms of finances and the day to day stuff between events.
